Episode Summary
In this episode of Cultivate Contentment, I’m diving into something that might feel very familiar to many of you – being in the trenches of life, feeling like you're barely keeping your head above water, and realizing you need a reset. Have you ever felt like you’re just going through the motions, trying to survive one day at a time, without a moment to breathe or reflect? Maybe you're overwhelmed with the demands of farm life, family, and everything else that comes with it. If you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone.
Recently, I found myself in that very place, where the days were running together, and I felt disconnected from my goals, my purpose, and even myself. Can you relate to that? Have you ever felt like you needed to hit the reset button on your life? In today’s episode, I’m sharing how I recognised that it was time for a life reset and the practical steps I took to get back on track.
Resetting your life doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does require some intentional action. Together, we’ll go through the four steps I followed to reset and bring some clarity and peace back into my routine. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or just ready for a change, this episode is for you. Let’s take the first step towards finding more contentment and balance.
Questions to think about as you listen:
Do you feel like you're just going through the motions without much intention behind your day-to-day actions?
Are there moments when you catch yourself feeling disconnected from your goals or what really matters to you?
When was the last time you paused to reset and realign your focus with the life you want to live?

Four Steps to a Life Reset:
1. Reflect on What Brings You Joy
Take time to identify the small moments in your daily life that bring you contentment and joy. Whether it’s a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, reading a book, or having a tidy kitchen, it’s important to recognize what makes you feel grounded and fulfilled. Make a mental or written list of these moments to help guide you toward finding more balance in your day.
2. Focus on One Thing at a Time
I’ve learned that my tendency to tackle everything at once often leads to failure. For instance, when I try to implement a new exercise routine, I plan every workout meticulously—aiming for daily walks, cardio, and yoga on rest days. However, this all-or-nothing approach overwhelms me, and when I inevitably miss a day, my perfectionist mindset tells me I’ve failed, causing me to abandon the entire plan. Instead, I've realized the importance of starting small and focusing on manageable tasks. Currently, my main focus is on improving my physical health after feeling fatigued for months. I’m working with a naturopath for accountability and concentrating on simple changes, like eating more fruits and vegetables and walking daily. This approach can be applied to various aspects of life, whether it’s decluttering your home, prioritizing mental health, or exploring a new hobby—just remember to focus on one thing at a time and avoid the urge to take on too much.
3. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others
It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing your life to others, especially with social media constantly showing highlight reels of seemingly perfect lives. But everyone’s circumstances are different, and comparing yourself to others can lead to unnecessary stress and feelings of inadequacy. Instead, focus on your own unique path and celebrate your personal progress, no matter how small. By letting go of comparisons, you can embrace your own journey and find contentment in your daily accomplishments. You never know where someone else’s journey started, how long it took them to get there or how many setbacks they had along the way.
4. Break Goals into Small Chunks
Big goals can often feel overwhelming, especially when you’re already juggling many responsibilities. The key is to break them down into smaller, manageable tasks. This makes it easier to make consistent progress and prevents burnout from trying to do everything at once. Focus on completing one small step at a time, and before you know it, you’ll be much closer to your bigger goal. Each small achievement adds up, and it’s important to celebrate these milestones as part of your journey.
